Niamh is from County Kildare, Ireland, where she grew up watching racing and learning from her father who trained a few flat and national hunt horses.  Before studying veterinary medicine in University College Dublin, Niamh spent a year away from the books at the Racing Academy in Kildare, to learn more about riding and managing racehorses.  

 

Niamh thoroughly enjoyed her time at UCD, making life-long friends and gaining invaluable work experience in various establishments such as Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, Kentucky, and Keros Equine Embryo Transfer Centre, Belgium. 

 

Upon graduating in 2020, Niamh spent two years working in mixed and equine practice in the South East of Ireland.  She developed a broad range of skills alongside the great team at Borovalley Veterinary Clinic, with a focus on thoroughbred reproduction during the breeding seasons.  

 

Niamh moved to Australia in September 2022 to join the wonderful Sydney Equine Practice team.  She loves all aspects of equine practice, with a special interest in racehorse poor performance investigation and is passionate about maximising horse health and welfare.  Outside of work Niamh likes to explore Sydney and the beautiful nature in New South Wales; she especially enjoys watching the sunrise and going for a swim at Coogee beach.
